Virtual secondment Description • Taking on a temporary job abroad • Exercise of the task purely virtually from the previous home country • No relocation necessary • Occasional business trips to the place of secondment if necessary Compensation: • Usually no changes • Possible salary increase due to the new secondment • Continued social security and taxes in the home country Payroll • Home country • Possibly shadow-payroll in host-country Example • An employee of the Swiss company takes on a new project in Tanzania. • He can carry out his work completely virtually. • At the start of the project, the employee travels to Tanzania for a week to get to know his colleagues. • After that, he works exclusively for the project from his previous place of work.
