National Interest Exception (NIE) • For any national coming from China, Iran, India, Brazil, South Africa, the Schengen area, the United Kingdom and Ireland • Coming to the US for • Providing vital support or executive direction for significant econimic activity in the US • Journalists • Students and certain academics covered by exchange visitor programs • Immigrants • Fiancés • Humanitarian travel, public health response or national security • July 6, 2021: Information of extension of NIE approval • Travels for social events do not qualify for NIE • E-Visa holders may also qualify for NIE Business travellers • Request of NIE approval needs to be filled with nearest U.S. embassy or consulate (no more than 30 days prior to expected travel) • NIE approval is valid for 12 months and multiple trips for the purpose indicated in the approved NIE • No exemption for fully vaccinated individuals • For checking on eligibility of NIE: bernNIV@estate.gov Going back to U.S.ual business!
