The Chilean National Immigration Service (Servicio Nacional de Migraciones) has newly interpreted the immigration law, that they can issue those special work permits also for up to 90 days from the beginning. This would decrease the high number of requests for renewals. This might help and eases the process for all business travellers going to Chile. Moldova Free Trade Agreement with the EFTA States The Free Trade Agreement between Moldova and the EFTA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) has been successfully concluded. The signing of the agreement is scheduled for 27 June 2023. Among other things, this agreement contains provisions on trade in services. Spain Introduction of Digital Nomad Visa as of 31 March 2023 Finally, as of 31 March 2023 the application of a digital nomad visa can be filed either within Spain by using an online application portal or through the Spanish consulates worldwide. Someone would qualify for such visa, if the individual has been either working for 12 months for a foreign company or working for multiple companies for at least 3 months as a freelancer. Applicants who apply within Spain will be able to get an initial visa for 3 years. It is foreseen that the applicant can spend up to 6 months per year outside of Spain. South Korea Extension of period applying the flat tax rate Foreign nationals starting to work in South Korea prior to 1 January 2023 were able to get their employment income taxed with a flat tax rate of 20.9 % (including the local income tax of 1.9%) for 5 years. This has been extended to up to 20 years. This is quite advantageous seeing that the maximum personal income tax rate in South Korea stands at 45%. 9 convinus.com
