NEWS UPDATE AUGUST 29,2024 UAE: Mission Visa are now available in two Free Zones The Dubai Development Authority and Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority now offer a mission visa (also known as a work visit Visa or mission work permit). Note: Such visas were previously only available for the UAE mainland. The mission visa is intended for foreign nationals who are on a temporary work assignment and should allow companies the flexibility to hire foreign nationals for short-term, project-based assignments rather than going through the more cumbersome process of applying for long-term work visas. DETAILED INFORMATION ON THE MISSION VISA Purpose of the visa: The mission visa is intended for foreign nationals who accept a temporary work assignment, such as project-based work or probationary employment (a period of time during which the employer or employee can determine whether the role or position is a good fit). Period of validity: The visa is valid for single entry and allows the holder to stay and work for up to 90 days, with a possible extension for a further 90 days. Standard processing times of the authorities: The exact processing time is yet to be confirmed by the relevant authorities, but should be faster than the standard processing time of approximately 10-14 working days in the UAE. Details of the application process: Contract or sponsorship letter: Applicants must provide a temporary employment contract or a letter from the sponsor outlining the nature of the assignment and the purpose of entry. Application in or out of the country: The visa application can be submitted while the applicant is in the country or outside the country, unlike mainland UAE where the applicant must be outside the country. Time period for entry: The applicant must enter the UAE within 60 days of the visa being issued if they are not in the country at the time of application. Application in person: Online applications are not (yet) possible in both free zones. Instead, authorized company representatives must submit the visa application in person to the competent authority of the respective free trade zone. NEWS UPDATE AUGUST 29,2024 VAE: Besuchsvisum für Arbeitseinsätze jetzt auch in zwei Freihandelszonen verfügbar Die Freihandelszonen der Dubai Development Authority und der Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority bieten jetzt neu ein sogenanntes Mission Visa, welches auch als Visit Visa for Work Assignment oder Mission Work Permit bezeichnet wird, an. Bemerkung: Solche Visa waren bisher nur für das Festland der VAE erhältlich. Das Mission Visa ist für ausländische Staatsangehörige gedacht, die einen befristeten Arbeitseinsatz absolvieren und soll es Unternehmen ermöglichen, ausländische Staatsangehörige flexibel für kurzfristige, projektbezogene Einsätze einzustellen, anstatt den umständlicheren Weg durch die Beantragung von langfristigen Arbeitsvisa zu gehen. DETAILLIERTE INFORMATIONEN ZUM MISSION VISA Zweck des Visums: Das Mission Visa ist für ausländische Staatsangehörige gedacht, die einen befristeten Arbeitsauftrag annehmen, wie z. B. projektbezogene Arbeit oder eine Beschäftigung auf Probe (ein Zeitraum, in dem der Arbeitgeber oder der Arbeitnehmer feststellen kann, ob die Rolle oder die Stelle gut geeignet sind). Gültigkeitsdauer: Das Visum gilt für die einmalige Einreise und erlaubt dem Inhaber einen Aufenthalt und eine Beschäftigung von bis zu 90 Tagen, wobei eine Verlängerung um weitere 90 Tage möglich ist. Standard-Bearbeitungszeiten der Behörden: Die genaue Bearbeitungszeit muss von den zuständigen Behörden noch bestätigt werden, dürfte aber schneller sein als die Standardbearbeitungszeit von ungefähr 10-14 Werktagen in den VAE. Details zum Antragsverfahren: Vertrag oder Sponsorschreiben: Antragsteller müssen einen befristeten Arbeitsvertrag oder ein Schreiben des Sponsors vorlegen, in dem die Art des Auftrags und der Zweck der Einreise dargelegt sind. Antragstellung im Land oder ausserhalb des Landes: Der Visumsantrag kann gestellt werden, während sich der Antragsteller im Land oder ausserhalb des Landes befindet, im Gegensatz zum Festland der VAE, wo sich der Antragsteller ausserhalb des Landes befinden muss. Zeitraum für die Einreise: Der Antragsteller muss innerhalb von 60 Tagen nach Erteilung des Visums in die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate einreisen, wenn er sich zum Zeitpunkt der Antragstellung nicht im Land befindet. Persönliche Antragstellung: Online-Anträge sind derzeit in beiden Freihandelszonen (noch) nicht möglich. Stattdessen müssen bevollmächtigte Unternehmensvertreter den Visumantrag persönlich bei der zuständigen Behörde der jeweiligen Freihandelszone einreichen.
