S h o r t N e w s D e c e m b e r 7 , 2 0 2 3 Switzerland: Continuation of the same maximum numbers for 2024 The Swiss Federal Council declared the quotas for work permits from third countries, Croatia, and for service providers from the EU/EFTA region and the UK to continue to apply unchanged for 2024. The quotas for British citizens will become part of the Ordinance on Admission, Residence and Gainful Employment (OASA) using a partial revision from January 2024. Malaysia: Visa exemption for Chinese and Indian citizens The Malaysian government announced that the visa requirement for Chinese and Indian citizens will be waived from 1 December 2023 to 31 December 2024 if they wish to travel to Malaysia for social purposes. This so-called Social Visit Pass is valid for 30 days and cannot be extended. A change of purpose of travel requires a new visa application outside Malaysia. Netherlands: Restriction of 30 percent tax relief from 2024 On 19 December 2023, the Dutch Upper House of Parliament will pass a law to restrict the 30% tax concession for highly qualified foreign professionals from January 2024. Transitional regulations will also apply to those skilled workers who received the corresponding compensation in the last quarter of 2023.
